İzmir Kemeralti | Kemeralti Tour Guide For Tourists

You have just arrived in Izmir and if you do not know where to visit first, you can start from Kemeralti. Kemeraltı is located in Konak, the center of Izmir. You can reach Kemeraltı by getting off at Konak stop by metro, tram and ferry. Kemeraltı is a bazaar that dates back to ancient times and has not lost its structure even today. We start our Kemeraltı tour from Konak Square.

Konak Square

The Izmir Clock Tower, which is the symbol of Izmir, is located in this square. İzmir Clock Tower was built in 1901 by Grand Vizier Küçük Said Pasha in honor of the 25th anniversary of Sultan Abdülhamit’s accession to the throne. When you come here, you can take pictures in front of the tower, throw wheat to the pigeons and listen to the street artists. Finally, Konak Yalı Mosque, Government House and First Bullet Monument are located here.

When we leave the square by following the crowd, we enter the Kemeraltı Bazaar :)

Here you can buy souvenirs from shops selling a variety of products. We continue on our way to Kizlaragasi Hani.

Kizlaragasi Hani

It is one of the historical and touristic places of Kemeraltı, built in 1744. Here you can visit jewelry shops and antique shops, buy souvenirs, and drink coffee on embers in the courtyard of the inn. After visiting Kizlaragasi, you can go outside the walls and go to Hisaronu.

Hisaronu

You can take a rest break in Hisarönü and eat cold cuts, kokoreç or other dishes here. After you are full, our recommendation is to eat dessert at the famous Hisarönü Şambalici. After you have finished your dessert, you can drink one of the special sherbets for Osamanlı or taste the Turkish Coffee slowly cooked in the sand.
