Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey. Ankara is the city where the Turkish War of Independence was administered. The first parliament, the Turkish Grand National Assembly, was opened in Ankara in 1920. Atatürk proclaimed the republic in 1922 and ended the sultanate. The first president of the Turkish Republic is Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK, the founder of Modern Turkey. In 1934, Atatürk gave women the right to vote and be elected. And without forgetting, Atatürk gave the 23rd of April, the opening day of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, to the children. April 23 is celebrated as National Sovereignty and Children’s Day in Turkey. It is the first and only holiday given to children in the world. Atatürk passed away on 10 November 1938. Atatürk’s body is in Anıtkabir in Ankara. Anıtkabir was specially built for Atatürk. Atatürk and the Turkish War of Independence museum is located in Anıtkabir. Mausoleum

Anatolian Civilizations Museum

  The Anatolian Civilizations Museum was founded in 1921 from 15th-century buildings that were once a steep market and a caravanserai. The museum preserves artifacts that tell the history and culture of all the peoples who lived in the territory of Anatolia (in the central part of the territory of modern Turkey) from the earliest times.

Here you can find ancient Greek and Roman artifacts, Neolithic, Bronze Age, etc. You can admire the objects. Some have been here for over 8,000 years. There are figurines, furniture, metal vases, ornaments and much more. In addition, while being among the historical places of Turkey, the museum was chosen as the best European museum of the year in the 90s. The museum, which tells about the adventure of Anatolian civilizations until today, attracts the attention of history lovers.

The works are exhibited in the museum in a chronological order. In this way, visitors can observe the developments in all periods. The museum, which was selected as the European Museum of the Year in 1997, has many artifacts from the Peleolithic, Neolithic and Chalcolithic ages. Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum

 The museum, which is among the historical places of Ankara, is at the service of those who love the past. While presenting the works of Turkish artists from the 19th century to the present, it also forms the basis of other museum exhibitions. In addition, the museum displays items that provide information about the ethnographic and historical features of this region.

The collections here are represented by works of painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphics and photography. Located among the historical sites of Ankara and on the top of Namazgah, the museum is a mixture of Seljuk, Ottoman and modern Turkish architecture. There are sections such as a painting workshop, a Turkish room and an opera house.

Ulus War of Independence Museum   When you head towards Ankara Train Station from Ulus, the 1st Parliament Building (1920-24) where the Republic was declared and the 2nd Parliament Building (1924-60), used as the Republic Museum, are on your right. Opposite these two parliament buildings, you will see Ankara Palas, which is the first hotel of Ankara and continues to be used as a State Guest House. Ziraat, İş and Sümerbank buildings in Ulus are beautiful buildings of the Republican period.
